Tailor made treks for all ages

Fell ponies were traditionally bred as pack ponies

Day treks

From our base at the foot of Windermere we take families and groups on a one day adventure with our native Fell ponies, following part of an old pack horse route through meadows, woods and fell.

Start the day making friends with your pony. Then we load the packsaddles with everything we need for a picnic lunch cooked on a charcoal fire, blankets, and a communal shelter. Suitable for families of all ages.

For the more adventurous traveller we take groups of up to 8 people on 3 and 4 day wild camping treks with 4 ponies. We travel up to 8 miles a day over iconic fells with breathtaking views of Cumbria and the Western Dales

What a trip!
It was miraculous to have been transported somewhere else entirely for the weekend. It felt strange to be back in the land of cars and mobile phones after such an amazing trip deep into the Lakeland fells. Thanks so much to the the Fell Pony Adventures team Clare & Tom and ponies Fay, Pansy and Fairmile. I can’t wait to do it again.

Wow! Having never spent time around horses before, I was slightly apprehensive and wondered if I would be dodging kicks and constantly re-tying bags to disgruntled horses! However nothing could be further from the truth. From the outset it was clear that the horses were born for this sort of work and Tom & Clare’s love, respect and knowledge for the horses meant that their wellbeing was put first at every stage. I now can’t wait to do another trip!
