About Me
I completed my Advanced Technical Suite in Equine Management at Myerscough College in 2023 and was one of only two students awarded a distinction on the assistant grooms level of the grooms pyramid.
My family have been breeding Fell ponies since 1957. We run 8 mares and a stallion on 100 acres of fell overlooking Morecambe Bay and take groups on wild camping pack pony treks throughout the Lake District. I help my dad bringing on youngsters and handling ponies every day.
I have been to Appleby horse fair every year since I was born, traveling with my family and our Fell ponies with a bow-top waggon.
I have been riding since I was able to sit on a horse and have been having riding lessons for the last 2 years on my 15 year old pony Hades Hill Perry. In 2021 I joined the North West Driving Club and compete at regional and national events.
I am passionate about drama and the arts. I have danced for 9 years at Michelle’s school of dance and The Dance Atikk.
When I’m not on the yard I sing, play music and enjoy keeping fit..

Relevant Experience
In 2018 I took Hades Hill Fay over Skiddaw working out a new route for a wild camping trek.
For the last year I have helped clients with ponies on Fell Pony Adventures day treks where I help with the cooking, packing saddles and leading ponies.
In 2018 I went to the Linnel Highland and Fell pony spring camp and autumn Performance Trials, for the first time. On the spring camp I taught one of our 5 year old Fells to jump and in the autumn I taught our 20 year Fell to jump.
At the start of the lockdown we set up a Patreon (Go Fund Me) website to help support our herd of ponies. For the last six months, my Dad and I have been making behind the scenes videos. I do the camera work.
I spent 3 months volunteering for my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award at Lindeth kennels, where I looked after the dogs boarding which included cleaning out kennels, feeding, walking and grooming the dogs. after my D of E was up I stayed on volunteering for another 6 months.
In 2019 I had the experience of being filmed for BBC Country file with our Fell ponies for the day, talking about what it is like to have a herd of working Fell Ponies.

“Flo is a confident and competent rider in all 3 paces and over jumps. She listens to instructions and works hard to improve her own knowledge and riding in order to better herself, and to improve her horse’s way of going. Flo has experience with horses of all ages and can adapt her skills accordingly. Flo is a pleasure to teach because of her positive attitude and her dedication to horses.”
