FELL PONY ADVENTURES
Environmental Policy
Fell Pony Adventures is based in Cumbria, a largely rural and sparsely populated area of North West England. We are a small family business that works from our yard at the foot of Windermere, and also from Naddle Farm, the RSPB nature reserve at Haweswater, consequently travel to Naddle Farm is essential to our work; to offset this we endeavour to find ways of lowering our carbon footprint. We use virtual meetings where possible. We actively encourage staff to use public transport when feasible. We are constantly looking at ways to increase our recycling and minimise our energy use. We work closely with the local and wider community to encourage re-using and recycling.
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and lesson our overall impact on the planet. Environmental factors play a large role in all our decision making and event planning.
1. Our impacts
We are committed to reducing the negative environmental impacts of our own activities, in particular those relating to:
Our office: energy use, water use and waste;
Our communications materials: use of resources (mainly paper and inks) and transport for printed materials;
Our events: energy use, water use, food, waste, transport and travel;
The goods and services we choose: food for our staff lunches, stationery, ICT and electronic equipment, furniture and cleaning;
The business services we use: notably website, data and email server hosting and banking.
We are also committed to ‘spreading the word’ and encouraging a low impact practice.
2. Implementation
This policy is supported by our Environmental Action Plan which specifies how the policy will be implemented, complete with targets, dates and a designated person responsible for delivering it. We will work with our staff (including freelance staff) and guests to promote environmental awareness and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner.
